This is Kayleigh, one of my first few candid models... Everything was very natural and candid, e.g. the way she smiled (though she was a little bit shy in the beginning) in front of the camera.

When boredom and tiredness set in...

More than a year has passed since I took up the camera and I guess I'm doing fine. Reading photography books, magazines and works of others really helps me a lot. However I still consider myself as a rookie and there are definitely room for improvements. Time for an upgrade to a new camera.

Here are some photographs taken on the night of the "Paul The Musical". Good job, Lianne. I enjoyed the performance. Cheers! :)

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.

They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

"For the fallen" by Laurence Binyon

Men whose these tombs laid in, displayed the will and courage to fight through the darkest hours in history. Stood eternally are these tombstones which testify the sacrifices they made in return for freedom and peace for the future generations - us.

It's been a while since I've been intrigued by my own photographs, reasons being that I haven't been photographing lately. Hopefully I will snap photographs more frequently while focusing on quality than quantity of my works.

Last year November, I traveled alone to Melbourne to visit some friends. Quite an interesting experience I would say. Special thanks to Sara and Joe who have been great hosts, bringing me around the place. Hello to Jason, VJ and everyone else I have met there. It was my pleasure meeting you all. Cheers people!

They thought I was from the press when I asked to take a picture of them. It was a big event at the Flemington Race Course as the Melbourne Cup was on. Everyone dressed to the occasion and were absolutely gorgeous.

The trip was quite an enjoyable trip with all the sun, sand and sea (not forgetting the delicious thai food). Needless to say, great photograph opportunities are everywhere. Here are some photographs to share:

It was the once-every-year reunion dinner for the old boys and girls from the dunearn band. Everyone who came, enjoyed themselves especially when it was time to do the "lao hey". We never failed to make a mess out of that yu sheng every year. It has always been a occasion for us to catch up with people whom we seldom see and for those who meet almost every week, to simply just have fun. Definitely there will be many more years to come as this has been a tradition for us since six or seven years ago. :)

well wishes for the new year. Gong Xi Fa Cai!

(above) it was my favorite shot (though unexpectedly). The candid expressions on everyone's face were simply "priceless".

I was configuring the camera for the formal group photo shoot when they laughed at the smoke coming out from the steamboat behind me. It appeared to them as though I was on fire and the smoke was coming out from me. It would have been more perfect if this shot was less blur and I shift my angle a little to the left to fill up the empty space beside Marcus (in green). But then again, this shot was unintended and the empty space was meant for me to stand and be in the formal group photograph.

the kick got kicked

merry (belated) xmas everyone!

Spent the countdown at Liquids Cafe (Bukit Timah). Here are some of the photographs taken:

after doing quite a few event coverage, i realized that the challenge of all was to be ever-ready to capture the "moments" the split-second they appear. not only that, you need the right configuration of shutter speed, aperture and exposure etc. ever-ready will also mean to be prepared with the basic necessity such as a spare battery (in case the battery in the camera runs out), a spare memory card etc. had a few embarrassing moments (memory full, battery flat) when i first did event coverage. will definitely improve on the quality of my works (better composed and less blur photographs) and hope to see that it will be better each time. :)

Happy Two O O Nine! Hope everyone had fun throughout the 2 weeks of partying.

I am not abandoning this blog yet. Just that my laptop just passed out on me before Xmas and will be out for 2 - 3 weeks.

Will be back with photographs taken during Xmas and New Year's eve for sure!

Hang on there...

"Why photography?"

Capturing the moment and make it everlasting and this is what I want to do.

Do leave me a comment if you like my photographs or you would like to share your thoughts about my photographs. Your valuable comments will definitely be a great source of motivation for me to move ahead.
